Provide technical expertise with the design, engineering and integration of Cummins products into our customers equipment. Utilize Cummins proven tools, techniques and processes to ensure the successful installation of Cummins power into the customers equipment design.
Responsibilities:
Support the high horsepower, heavy duty and mid-range diesel engine business, along with the mid and low range power generation business by providing engineering services for new product and new application design and development.
Manage design projects from implementation to final release.
Develop and maintain project timelines, assuring that projects are completed as scheduled.
Utilize and develop engineering standards and procedures to maintain consistent performance and on-time delivery of projects.
Conceptualize, design, develop and launch applications of new products into a production environment.
Develop and implement engineering improvements driven by involvement with continuous improvement programs, engineering innovation programs, Six-Sigma programs and customer driven programs.
Develop electrical wiring and controls for Power Units from engine company wiring diagrams and guidelines.
Investigate, develop and refine existing off-the-shelf products and integrate into Power Units.
Research, benchmark, and leverage voice-of-the-customer feedback to develop and integrate new electrical products into final design Power Units.
Utilize Pro Engineer software as a design tool to develop new Cummins Power Products models, with 3D CAD for the product models and 2D CAD for the part production models.
Responsible for full integration of electrical controls and components utilizing Pro/E features to assure first-fit success and determine any build / feature constraints before the fit-check build.
Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions and record results / develop action plans.
Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems for commercial and industrial purposes.
Direct and coordinate manufacturing assembly, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
Optimize engine features and performance to suit customers needs. Recommend and adjust engine calibrations to optimize customer equipment performance.
Read electrical prints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions to assemble and apply electronic control systems, utilizing knowledge of electronic theory and components.
Provide technical support and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during and after construction and installation of Power Units.
Assemble, test and maintain circuitry and/or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics using hand and power tools.
Modify electrical control systems and solid state equipment.
Ensure that all components meet or exceed Cummins application guidelines.
Maintain a high level of accountability for quality and quantity of work performed.
Other duties as assigned.

Education/
Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering desired, or as an alternate, Associates degree plus related design expertise.
Expertise in Pro/E design software and design systems.
History of solid engineering innovation performance.
High electrical and/or mechanical aptitude and ability to apply sound design principles.
Knowledge and work experience with gas and/or diesel engines.
Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, electric and pneumatic systems.
Skills and Abilities:
Expertise with engine wiring harnesses and harness development.
Expertise in engine cooling package development and design.
Expertise in system integration.
Expertise in circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Superior interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in AutoCAD, ProEngineer - Wildfire.
Proficient in windows based Microsoft Office programs.
Knowledge of Minitab software and its capabilities.
Knowledge of practical applications of engineering science and technology.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
