Summary:
Complete Electrical Engineering from concept development to completed units in manufacturing. Specify all aspects of the electrical systems, including controls, harnessing, circuit protection and routing. Provide technical support and information to the customer, manufacturing and the materials group.
Responsibilities:
Support the development of diesel and natural gas power units by providing electrical engineering services for new product and new applications.
Manage design projects from implementation to final release.
Utilize and develop engineering standards and procedures to maintain consistent performance and on-time delivery of projects.
Conceptualize, design, develop and launch applications of new products into a production environment. Provide technical support and problem solving to production and to the customer as needed.
Develop and implement engineering improvements driven by involvement with continuous improvement programs, engineering innovation programs, Six-Sigma programs and customer driven programs.
Utilize Creo 2 and AutoCad software as a design tool to develop new Cummins Power Products models.
Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of designs, developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions and record results / develop action plans.
Optimize engine features and performance to suit customers needs. Recommend and adjust engine calibrations to optimize customer equipment performance.
Ensure that all components meet or exceed Cummins application guidelines.
Maintain a high level of accountability for quality and quantity of work performed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering desired, or as an alternate, electrical technical degree with automotive related expertise.
Expertise in Creo 2 design software and design systems desirable.
History of solid engineering innovation performance.
Knowledge and work experience with gas and/or diesel engines.
Skills and Abilities:
Expertise in system integration.
Superior interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Creo 2, and Windchill desired.
Proficient in windows based Microsoft Office programs.
Knowledge of practical applications of engineering science and technologyEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
