POSITION Overview:
Pratt & Miller Engineering is seeking a driven, self-motivating, and detail-oriented Product Engineer to work closely with a talented cross-functional and fast-paced engineering and manufacturing team on the execution of low-volume production programs.
As a Product Engineer, you will focus on a growing portfolio of Products while supporting work-products throughout each phase of the full product lifecycle.
Reporting to the Sr.
Product Engineer or Lead Product Engineer, you will be working within an energetic team focused on fast-paced product development and unsurpassed quality.
Typical Products may include items such as:
vehicle upfit kits, mobility enhancement components, weapon system components and integration kits, defense platforms, advanced vehicles and/or vehicle subsystems, autonomous and/or electric vehicles.
Effective collaboration and communications with customers, suppliers, engineering, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, and sales is critical to being successful in this position.
It is critical to have well-rounded skill set, with the ability to work independently while being a key contributor to the larger team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Engineering Documentation Creation and Maintenance Compile program guiding requirements Cascade the vehicle level requirements to the system and component level Maintain the status of requirements sub-system Prepare updates and communicate status to management Create and maintain BOMs, manuals, training materials Develop DFMEA/DVP&R documentation and iterate throughout design phases Guide Engineering Change ProcessProduct Development Process Follow the appropriate Product Development Tools and Processes Balance multiple partys (internal and external) priorities and timelines, ensuring the customer needs are best addressed, on time and under budget.
Optimize product manufacturability, serviceability, quality, warranty, and spares Support and contribute to Design for Assembly/Manufacturing efforts Prepare for and support build, test, and deployment phases Part Sourcing and Supplier Development Evaluate and source suppliers as prototype and production sources Develop part supply timing, track status, and resolve issues Develop the build plans for internally produced parts and sub-systems Create final production sourcing plan for overall productESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Required Experience and Education:
Technical Bachelor's degree preferred, 2
years of experience Broad base of knowledge in automotive vehicle systems Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and customer service skills Proactive mentality with outstanding multitasking capabilities Ability to function independently in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)Desired Special Skills and Knowledge:
CAD system experience (Creo/Windchill, NX, Solidworks) Experience with hybrid/electric vehicle systemsWORK ENVIRONMENT:
